Why photography?

...It’s been a while that I have been trying to figure out what to do with my career in order to express my creative side. Before and after immigrating to the USA, I worked in the legal field and learned a lot along my path, met amazing people and mentors who taught me not only about US Immigration Law but about life in general. Many of those people supported me during the hardest years of my life. Being an Immigrant is not an easy thing: your thoughts are overseas while your body and mind are trying to get used to the new reality. For one it may only take a few months while for others - a few years.

Back in Armenia, I met very “high level” professionals in the legal field with a "low level" of moral values, which actually was the main reason for me to realize that I was not in a right place in my career. It was not the game I wanted to play in life. To be honest, it was only after I moved to the US that I gained self-confidence and determination to move towards my true self... and only after I survived a difficult chapter of my life when I thought I wouldn’t...

Now, after two kids and after becoming a photographer, I finally realized that I made a progress, huge progress towards my dream of building a career in the creative field. The most important skill that I learned along the way is to appreciate my movies and to compare myself only to my old self. The transition from law to photography was not an easy decision, it is still a work in progress. However, every new collaboration makes me see the light at the end of the tunnel that helps me move forward.

The moral of the story - you can do it as long as you believe in yourself! No matter what it is that you are doing to bring you joy and fulfillment in life, work hard and keep doing it.
